I have always thoroughly enjoyed watching and painting coyotes - their alertness and energetic nature make for wonderful behavior. Here I've exploited their quick-moving tendencies by placing part of a magpie at the left edge of the canvas (more of the bird wraps around onto the side of the piece). Since magpies and coyotes are often associated - such as at a kill - it was very easy to conceive of this fun little bit of scenario.
